The parish & school cleanup morning is this Saturday, September 22nd.  If you are able to come for a couple of hours between 8:00 and 11:30am, please meet at the shed behind the school. Nearly all of the work will be outdoors. If you have tools that would help with any of the tasks listed below, please bring them along, with your family name clearly marked on them.  Breakfast burritos provided and gatorade.  BYO water bottle/refills available.

  1. Shovel/spread mulch on lower playground

  2. Trim bushes and discard branches

  3. Stain outdoor wooden benches

  4. General clean up of shrubbery; blower on leaves, etc

  5. Clean out of window wells – church and school

  6. Remove weeds from sidewalks, cracks in pavement – church and school

  7. If time and manpower allow – prep a small display wall in the school for painting


Catholic night at Elitch Gardens is September 21st.  Look for “Twin Waldos” Kelly Archer and Lauryl Eyer who will be there in costume.  Identify yourself as an SVDP kid and they have a treat for you.

Fall Raffle – A million thanks to Gina Sawyer who capitalized on the little time available to complete the gala raffle. Thanks to your commitment to this, we raised $26,780 to go toward the gala preparations!

Edukits – Thank you to Shannon Novak who has continued to handle the summer Edukits program for us.  This convenient school supply program gave back $1,111.70 to the school from family purchases of school supplies.  Thank you!

Does your pup, kitty, hamster, or turtle need a spiritual lift?  Come to St. Vincent de Paul Parish on the feast of St. Francis of Assisi for the blessing of animals by Franciscan Capuchin Father Joseph Mary.  Right after 3:00pm dismissal at the main gate of the school, simply walk over to the parish circle with your pet – on a leash or in a cage.  No pets / animals are ever allowed inside the school gates lower playground (except chickens!) or upper playground.








Interested in getting involved, but don’t have too much time to spare? Please consider volunteering to be a Service Coordinator for your child’s grade. This parent will partner with the Agency Liaison from the SVDP Serves committee to facilitate two service projects per year with their grade’s assigned agency. The Service Coordinator responsibilities include:

Procure any supplies required for the projects. Funding provided. Work with teachers to recruit parent drivers or arrange transportation, if applicable, to and from the site. Recruit parent volunteers to participate in our two All-school Service Days, (Nov. 16 and April 17, 1:15–2:45pm) Assist grade organize a drive. (5th and 7th Grades only will run a Book Drive and Diaper Drive, respectively.) Attend St. Vincent de Paul Feast Day – SVdP Serves Commissioning Day, September 27th, 8-9:30am.

Overview: In honor of St. Vincent de Paul’s feast day, the school will celebrate Mass. Following Mass, a representative from each agency will visit the appropriate grade to introduce the yearlong partnership. The rep will give a brief overview of the identified population and answer student questions.

4th Grade serves Asbury School, Special Education Program. 5th Grade serves Early Childhood Education Centers. 7th Grade serves Women and Family Services of Catholic Charities.

Ordering is now open for Fun Food — please be sure to place your order by 9/28/18. Orders will be placed now for October, November and December. The order window closes at 11:59PM on September 29th. Orders will not be accepted after that date.

If you are new to 7th or 8th grade, Fun Food is a privilege reserved for our oldest two grades in the school. It is certainly not necessary to order the food, but it is a treat that the students really look forward to.There will no Fun Food on the following dates…

October 11 – No school November 1 – Half Day November 22 – Thanksgiving

Please help serve our local community by donating used coats, boots and shoes of all sizes and types.  We are hopeful to have a plentiful contribution this year for the Denver Rescue Mission. Please look for our decorated donation boxes  (thanks to the pre-school students) in the school lobby by the front office.  Hurry and clean out all of your closets and mudrooms….collection runs for a short 2 weeks: Monday, September 17th – Friday, September 28th!


Home and school is putting together a printed directory that is available for purchase now through Sunday September 30th . The cost is $8.00.
