A Chance to Serve with Your Child
SVDP Serves has planned the first All School Service Day for Friday, November 16th from 1:15 to 2:45. The students will be paired with their buddies to complete service projects for agencies in our community. The only thing missing from this wonderful day is you. We would love your help setting up for the projects as well as during with the students. If you are interested in volunteering for this terrific day, please contact Beth Riviere at acappellangel@msn.com.
NET Retreat Missionaries Host Families Needed
Hello families of St. Vincent De Paul, we are having NET ministries come put on a day retreat for our 7th and 8th graders on January 30th. We have found this to be an invaluable retreat for our students for the second half of the year. The NET team is usually made up of 12 volunteer missionaries, so we need about 6 families to host them for the night of January 30th. They must travel and stay overnight at least in pairs. Please email Miss Donahue at edonahue@svdpk8.com, our Student Advocate, if you would like to host. You do not need to have a child in 7/8 grade to volunteer; these young men and women are devoting one to two years of their lives deepening their own Christian lives and traveling to schools and churches to put on retreats for middle and high school aged children. They are a great blessing to our church.

Jamba Juice
Jamba Juice ordering now has more flexibility. You can either continue to place a one time order for the whole trimester, OR order anytime up to two weeks in advance throughout the trimester. (For example, if you’d like Jamba Juice November 27th, your order needs to be in by November 12th and if you’d like Jamba Juice December 4th, your order needs to be in November 19th, etc.) It is our hope that this change in ordering availability encourages even more participation in this valuable SVdP fundraiser. You can begin ordering NOW at https://secure.boonli.com/login. Please email Kay Watson (kmclean_max@yahoo.com) with any questions.

We are off and running with acquisitions. Thank you to Mary Catel for leading the charge. A couple things we wanted to mention regarding acquisitions. First, the donation parties are mostly scheduled. Please try and attend if you can, as these are great community opportunities. Bring your donations and ideas to the parties. We are also asking for everyone to bring a bottle of wine to the parties to contribute to the wine pull. Note that no donation is too small either!!! For example, if you have a gift card that you won’t be using, we can package with something else!
on what each class is assigned to bring to help the poor this year. If you have questions, or would like to donate more items, contact Bevin Wallace at bevinwallace@comcast.net.

The SVDP School Community (adults only) are invited to attend a presentation hosted by Good Shepherd Catholic School on the topic of suicide prevention. The presentation will be held at Good Shepherd on November 14th from 6:30-8:00 pm.
QPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer – the 3 simple steps anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide. People trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to help. This evidence based training goes over national and state statistics about suicide, warning signs, and detailed explanation of how to talk to someone who may be in a suicide crisis. This training is designed for anyone including parents, friends, neighbors, teachers, advocates, etc. to recognize and refer someone at risk of suicide.
The presenter is Alexandra Yannacone, a mental health professional trained in suicide prevention with an extensive background in implementation and trainings for prevention and intervention of mental health services and education. Ms.Yannacone provides current and relevant information regarding suicide prevention and addresses parent questions related to this topic.
