Thank you

Dear Families – as we receive our checks distributed from the Teacher/Staff Christmas Fund, we are so deeply grateful for your generosity and care.  This Fund was very successful and all of our teachers and support staff wish to say THANK YOU and a very Merry Christmas to you and your families!

Announcements

Free Dress Day – Friday, December 21

Teachers and students are invited to enjoy a free dress day on the last day before break.  Suggested theme: anything Christmas!

Hopefully you heard the good news that SVDP received $30,000 toward our technology needs.  We need your help to multiply the impact of these gifts and reach our $100,000 goal.  Please contribute today! Our campaign will run through Catholic Schools Week (Feb. 2).  Your help will have an immediate impact on our classrooms!

We are now at $37,500 including the initial gifts.

King Soopers and Safeway Reloadable Cards

This program has been very successful this year so far, and the school is receiving around $1,000 each month because of your commitment to use the grocery cards consistently.  Thank you so much!  Please use them for your Christmas / party shopping.  The school makes 5% back on purchases.  King Soopers and Safeway reloadable cards are available at the school front office.

Winter Enrichment Classes

You can now sign up for Winter Enrichment Classes.  Click here for more information to sign up.

Futsal

This year we are able to field two teams each at the Widget, JV, and Varsity levels, with up to eight players per team.

The tournaments run from February 11 – March 1.

Please note the following:

  • interested parents put teams of up to 8 players together and submit the roster/coach name to Dave Strawbridge

  • once finalized, parents need to register their child-athlete on the CSAL website so official rosters can be submitted for scheduling play

  • SVDP is able to host games this year for the first time, but this requires that we find the specialized futsal equipment.  If you have connections to borrow the following items, please contact Dave Strawbridge at sports@svdpk8.com.

    • two futsal nets

    • four size 3 balls

    • four size 4 balls

The athletic fee will be determined after Christmas break, based on the number of participants

Upcoming Events

January 16, 23, and February 6//Book Study – Saving Our Sons

Join Mrs. Cohen for a discussion on the book, “Saving Our Sons” by Michael Gurian at 9 am at the school.  Copies can be purchased at the school front office.  This is an insightful book about raising boys and provides current research on the differences between boys and girls brains, and how to teach to and parent boys and girls according with their brains in mind.

April 12//Grandparents Day

Due to the full implementation at SVDP Church of the restored order of sacraments, no grade levels are scheduled this year to receive First Holy Communion.  In the past, Grandparents’ Day has been scheduled in association with this sacrament.  This year Grandparents Day is not associated with other events or activities, but we hope that many grandparents will be able to join us for this special morning.

May 26 and June 13 // Confirmation Dates

Parents of Confirmandi, please see the email from Kelly Archer to select your choice of Confirmation date for 2019.
