Speaker Series Save the Date –  Legal Implications for Our Teens’ Online and Social Behaviors

Thursday, October 28th at 7pm in the School Gym

SVdP is fortunate to have local Attorney, Lara Baker, of Foster Graham, presenting to our community on the legal ramifications of seemingly normal online and social behaviors of teenage kids.

All too often the lawyers in her practice handle cases for good kids who have found themselves in trouble. Whether it be school discipline or contact with law enforcement, the best way to protect your children is to understand how the laws work in Colorado and create a dialogue about how to help your kids make good decisions.  Laura will be discussing these important issues and pitfalls:

  • Social media, cyber-bullying and the use of electronic devices.

  • Sex, sexting and the laws of consent.

  • The temptation of drugs and alcohol and the consequences you could face

  • School disciplinary consequences and what to do if you are contacted by the police.

This talk is not just for parents of middle schoolers, but all ages as we prepare to raise our children in this technologically driven world. More information about Lara can be found here; as well as past talks she has given to High School communities.

Community Opportunities

Walking With Purpose Women’s Bible Study

“Discovering Our Dignity!” We are continuing our study of the Bible. This year we are Learning how God worked in the lives of Biblical women:

**Sisters Leah and Rachel overcame jealousy when they learned that God offered all that they really needed.

**Abigail’s faith was so strong she didn’t despair, no matter how unpleasant life was with her husband

**Deborah had been given grace by God to act as His prophet, for the good of her people

Mary the Blessed Mother’s “yes” to God—her fiat—changed everything. How else did her words and deeds influence Jesus, and vice versa? We would LOVe to have you join us Thursday mornings at 9am via zoom OR Thursday Evenings at 7pm in person OR Zoom. Call that Kathy Quintana for information!! 303-358-4944.

Honor Group for Middle School Boys

The Honor Program is a weekly group for middle school boys. The purpose of the group is to foster character and self-awareness in adolescent boys as they grow into men. The group will help the boys manage emotions, respond effectively as opposed to reacting impulsively, promote accountability for self, identify personal strengths and ultimately build relationships that will serve as a prosocial model for interactions outside of our group.  Click here for more details on the program.
