Change in Academic Calendar 2022-2023

Parents, please note a change in the DRAFT calendar for 2022-2023.  We have been asked by the Archdiocese to add a professional development day December 8 and/or 9th, so there will be no school on one or both of these days.  This will require an adjustment to other days in the calendar which will be finalized in early March.

Parking Issues around SVDP

Recently our neighbors have asked us for consideration of their driveways especially during afternoon pickup.  Please do not park in a way that prohibits a neighbor from entering their alley or driveway, even just for a few minutes.  Call the school office if you need help or suggestions on how to change your pickup routine if you need additional ideas on parking.  It is important for us to be good neighbors to the houses around us!

Make Up Dress Down Day

In light of the snow day, we will be making up our “Hats off to Teachers” dress down day on TUESDAY, February 8th.  Students may come in free dress (according out of uniform guidelines) and are encouraged to join in the theme of wearing any hat.

Open House – Very Successful

Thank you to our band of volunteers who helped to make our Admissions Open House so successful.  Parent recommendations our most powerful marketing tool.  We have a record number of admissions applications at this point in the year, so thank you for your support of SVDP School and for sharing the good news with your friends and neighbors.

Tuition Assistance

Saint Vincent de Paul School is blessed to receive support from several sources in order to provide tuition assistance to those families who request the assistance.

More detailed information will follow, but at this time, we encourage you to complete your 2021 tax return as soon as possible. Your 2021 adjusted gross income is required to determine qualification to apply for several of our funding sources.

The Speaker Series continues

Our next Speaker Series will be Tuesday, 2/15 at 6:30 in the gym. This event is open to the public so please invite your friends! Chasing Childhood is a feature length documentary that explores how free play and independence have all but disappeared from kids’ lives, supplanted by relentless perfectionism and record high anxiety and depression. What’s lost goes well beyond our idyllic conceptions of childhood past. Free play, unsupervised by adults, is critical for developing essential life skills: grit, independence, and resourcefulness. Many young adults appear more accomplished on paper, but by the time they get to college they are struggling, and lacking the emotional tools to be appropriately independent.

Watch the trailer here, and please register HERE if you would like to attend! Contact Caroline Iannucci with any questions.

A description of what a blessing bag is will be coming home with your children in February!

1st/2nd – travel size deodorant

3rd/4th – travel size shampoo/conditioner

*Christ in the City is a Catholic program dedicated both to forming young adults and the greater community to be lifelong missionaries and to knowing, loving and serving the poor. The missionaries walk the same routes and, over time, build friendships with the homeless. In this way, Christ in the City is addressing poverty at its core by showing the homeless that they are seen, known, and loved.

Gala 2021-2022 – Saddle Up!

Looking for Chefs for “Mondays of Meals” (SVdP’s Famous Live Auction Item!)

Do you enjoy cooking and have one great meal you can deliver one Monday next year? We need your help! 30 Mondays of Meals is in its 5th year. It’s a group of St. Vincent’s home cooks who each sign up to bring the winning family one meal (winners get 30 Mondays of taking the night off from cooking). We ask that the meal be complete (not just a lasagne thrown on the porch), with salad, sides, dessert, and some extras – maybe wine, a cocktail, breakfast muffins for the next day, your favorite cookbook – and a recipe from the meal you deliver. In the last 4 years the item has made our school over $30,000! It’s a small effort that goes a LONG way. Keeping our cooks fresh helps, so if you are new and want to learn more, reach out to Kate Crisham at mcgreevy@gmail.com or 202-907-4875.

Need another Denim Day shirt or one of those SVdP Gala Hats?  Now is your chance!  The store will be open to purchase more red shirts ($10) or hats ($25) now through Feb 18th!  Just in time for the March 30th Denim Day – one your kids don’t want to miss!

Supporting those affected by the Marshall fires

There are many ways we can be supporting our neighbors in Boulder county after the terrible fires last week. Please see this article from Denver7 for specific ways to help out, as well this invitation from our Archbishop to donate to a special relief fund for families in need.
