Announcements

Ordering Milk for Lunch this Year  Please complete this form if your child wants milk with their lunch for this school year. Milk will be purchased through Meadow Gold once for the entire 2023-2024 school year. Orders must be submitted by the end of the business day on September 14th. Late orders will not be accepted. Please do not send checks or cash to the school office.  We will use Incidental Billing in FACTS to handle payments.

Picture Day is coming! 

All orders will be online only with school code:  EVTNPZQ4R at  Lifetouch.com .  September 12, 2023 – Picture Day for Preschool Angels, 4th-8th grade and September 13, 2023 – Picture Day for Preschool Saints, Preschool Montessori, K-3rd grade.

Volunteer Registration Information

Volunteer Requirements to interact with children in any capacity at an Archdiocesan School -Safe Environment Training is required: Please remember, before anyone is allowed to volunteer for anything at the school, they must complete the Archdiocese Safe Environment Training and register online with VIRTUS. If you are a new family to SVdP School this year or if you are returning and have never completed the volunteer paperwork in the past, please click on the following link: http://www.virtus.org/ On the left side of the screen, click on First -Time Registrant to begin registration. To proceed, click on Begin the registration process. Continue to follow all prompts until you have completed all sections and see the message, “Thank you for completing the registration process!”.  Click here to view Registration Instructions for Volunteers.  Once you have registered for an account you can sign up to take the live class, Protecting God’s Children for Adults. You will also need to complete a background check and a Hold Harmless form. If you have questions regarding virtus/volunteer information please contact Monica Wooley at mwooley@svdpk8.com.

Fun Food- 7th and 8th Graders Only

Fun Foods is starting soon for all 7th and 8th graders! For most students, this is the best lunch day of the week with takeout rotating this year from Chik-Fil-A, Sun Wah, Cafe Rio, and Noodles and Company. Fun Food will be delivered every Thursday beginning September 14th and orders are placed for the entire trimester prior to start. This trimester’s ordering window will open August 29th – September 11th. Please look for the email from Karen Plank with details.

Dennis Uniforms – Backorders

We are aware of the Dennis Uniforms backorders.  They have hired additional staff for their Customer Center to respond to calls and emails and added extra staff to the store.  They will be emailing customers with open orders this week to inform them of estimated shipping dates.  You can also check your Dennis Customer Account.

Changes to the Play Like a Champion parent meeting. I have a list of parents who attended last year and are not required to take the class again, all other parents who attended previous years must attend a class. We will have one class offering at our school 10/26 at 6:30 pm in the gym, but parents may attend any of the other class offerings around the city. Gala News

Old School Party –  There are still tickets available for the “Old School Party” (adults only) on Saturday September 9th from 6-10PM at Glenmoor Country Club. Join your fellow overaged SVDP parents for a true throw-back party. The evening is guaranteed to be full of competitive fun and laughs as we pay homage to the 2003 movie classic “Old School.” Tickets are $100 per person and paid as a donation to the school. Please RSVP by August 31st. This is an event not to be missed!

Gala 2024 T-shirts – All SVdP students will receive a complimentary Gala t-shirt to celebrate our theme throughout the year. If you have not told us your students size, please do so here.

SVDP Gala – Volunteers Our first gala planning meeting will be on Friday, September 15th at 8am/after drop off in the school conference room (main building). Gala class reps, ad-hoc committee members and curious parents are encouraged to attend! We’ll share our current plans and brainstorm ideas to make this an amazing event.

SVDP Serves

Please join our first meeting this coming Tuesday, 9/5, at 8am. We will meet in the dining room of the Church office. SVdP serves is a wonderful mission started by an SVdP alumni parent. Each grade participates in two service projects per school year. We also organize two school wide service projects. We are looking for 1 parent representative per class and additional volunteers throughout the school year. We will meet the first Tuesday of every month. Home and School Monthly Newsletter Submissions

Each month H&S publishes a newsletter to promote school and community events. The newsletter link will be shared in this section of the Friday Forecast. If you have pictures to share of students in the classroom, playing sports or volunteering around the community please submit to ErinOWeidner@gmail.com. If you could add the student’s name and any comments for the specific picture that would be great!

Local attorney, Lara Baker, will return to SVdP to speak to parents of all ages on matters related to juvenile justice. Lara is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law and the Leeds School of Business. She began her career at Isaacson Rosenbaum, P.C. where she practiced for six years before joining Foster Graham Milstein and Calisher in 2011. Lara specializes in criminal defense and Title IX litigation in state and federal courts.

Her talk will focus on:

  • Avoiding pitfalls in the juvenile justice system, focusing on the perils of social media

  • Drugs and alcohol

  • Sex and the laws of consent

  • School disciplinary consequences

  • Law enforcement interaction with juveniles
