Announcements

Veterans Day Celebration 

St. Vincent de Paul Catholic School would like to honor the men and women, past and present, who have faithfully served our nation. We invite Veterans in the community to attend a short music assembly and presentation led by our students in the school Gym. This special event will be held on Friday, November 10. Refreshments will be provided by Home and School at 1:00pm, and the program will start at 1:30pm. Student Volunteers Needed for Mass Announcement

We are looking for 1 or 2 students that are interested in presenting Gala information during the announcement section of Mass the weekend of November 4th. If your child is interested in volunteering, please sign up here.

It’s almost Halloween so that means it’s time to think about Christmas! Once again, SVdP will be selling Christmas wreaths to benefit both our home and school as well as to fund the 8th grade class graduation gift to SVdP. Please click here to order. Deadline is 11/15.

Gala Volunteers Our next gala planning meeting will be on Friday, October 20th at 8am/after drop off in the school conference room (main building). Hello Dads and Daughters! Reminder- the Daddy Daughter Dance is TONIGHT from 6:30-9:00 in the SVdP Gym. Come dressed in your best Halloween costume and we will provide the rest! SVdP Mother Son Glow Party – 11/4 You’re invited to join the 1st SVdP Mother Son Glow Party on November 4th, from 6:00-8:30 in the gym. This was a gala party but if you missed purchasing a ticket, you can pay $50 at the door. Bring your dancing shoes and the party hosts will have the DJ, food and drinks. We hope to see you there! Honor the Veteran in Your Life Veterans Day is November 11th and each year Home & School publishes a special newsletter honoring the veterans in your life. Please submit a picture by 10/31 of your veteran to erinoweidner@gmail.com with the following information:

Your SVdP child’s name & grade Name of the person in the photo Relation to your child (Grandpa, Grandma, Uncle, etc…) Military branch that they served Years served and any other info that might be helpful to describe the picture.

This is such a wonderful way to honor our heroes! (If you submitted a picture last year, no need to resubmit information, however send Erin the current grades/names of your children so as to account for new/graduated students).

Square 1 Art – Ordering Window is Open Coming home to you soon will be your child’s custom catalog for the Square 1 Art fundraiser. Get a head start, and start ordering keepsakes and gifts featuring your child’s art online!

Simply search for your child’s art using Art Search, and enter state, school name, and your student’s name. Your student’s art and code will appear. All orders must be placed by 11/13/2023; just in time for a Christmas delivery! Have other art you’d like added to a keepsake? Additional art can be uploaded here—> Art Upload!

Modern Market Eatery Dine Out – November 2nd

On Thursday, November 2nd the delicious and generous Modern Market Eatery (1000 S Colorado Blvd) is donating back 30% of takeout orders to support a great cause — St. Vincent de Paul Catholic School! Spirit Wear – Opening Soon! Mark your calendar! The Spirit Wear shop will be open from 11/5-11/17 and all orders will arrive before Christmas!

Local attorney, Lara Baker, will return to SVdP to speak to parents of all ages on matters related to juvenile justice. Lara is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law and the Leeds School of Business. She began her career at Isaacson Rosenbaum, P.C. where she practiced for six years before joining Foster Graham Milstein and Calisher in 2011. Lara specializes in criminal defense and Title IX litigation in state and federal courts.

Her talk will focus on:

  • Avoiding pitfalls in the juvenile justice system, focusing on the perils of social media

  • Drugs and alcohol

  • Sex and the laws of consent

  • School disciplinary consequences

  • Law enforcement interaction with juveniles

Thanksgiving Food Drive

Thanksgiving is right around the corner! Each year, the 8th grade class and SVdP Serves collect, organize and deliver food to organizations and individual families to help make this holiday better for those less fortunate. Please send 3 to 6 of the food item assigned to your child(ren)’s grade/class between October 23rd and November 15th. Boxes for the items will be in each classroom and collected and inventoried by the 8th graders. The list can be found at the entrance doors to the school and if you click here. Thank you for supporting our 8th graders in this important service project.

Coffee and Donuts

Join the SVdP Parish in the circle drive every Sunday after the 9:30 mass for community, conversation and, of course, donuts!  This event is not possible without volunteers. Will your family consider helping with setup and breakdown?   Find all the information you need by clicking this signup link.

Children’s choir

Children’s choir has started and there are several spots that remain open. Rehearsals are Tuesdays from 3:30-4:45 for children in grades 3-8. 

If that day doesn’t work for you, we are considering moving days or adding an additional day, so please let me know what day might work better.
