A note from Sister Marie Isaac, OP

Our Catholic Schools Week Open House went very last week and we have started the interview process for potential new families. Thank you for sharing your experiences at SVdP School with your friends and people in the area. On a related note, St. Vincent de Paul School was recently featured in the January issue of Stroll Bonnie Brae, our neighborhood newspaper. You can view the issue at the following link or download the PDF – HERE

In the new year of 2023, we have a school wide goal of increasing our reverence and respect while receiving Holy Communion at School Mass. The teachers have begun going over several tips with the children on how participate in this very special part of the Mass. You can review what the teachers are teaching HERE. We know that when children receive parallel instruction from their parents at home, the learning is deeper. You can also watch a beautiful video put out by the Knights of Columbus about this same topic HERE.

This weekend, Fr. Hilton is sharing a Master Planning update at all the Masses. After our town hall meeting a few weeks ago, the planning committee supported the decision to go with a version of Option 1 which was proposed by the architect. On the Church side, planning will continue for the addition of a new Parish Hall with new offices in place of the present Parish offices. On the school side, we will plan for a school addition that will replace the old convent building with a new efficient space complete with required upgrades. We will also focus on an interior remodel of the main school building which will preserve its historic integrity as well as enhance the comfort, functionality and appearance of all the classrooms. Thank you for your continued prayers for this project.

Know of my prayers for you and your family.

30 Mondays of Meals: Recruiting Cooks!

Do you enjoy cooking and have one great meal you can deliver one Monday next year? We need your help! 30 Mondays of Meals is in its 6th year…it’s a group of St. Vincent’s home cooks who each sign up to bring the winning family one meal (winners get 30 Mondays of taking the night off from cooking). We ask that the meal be complete (not just a lasagne thrown on the porch), with salad, sides, dessert, and some extras – maybe wine, a cocktail, breakfast muffins for the next day, your favorite cookbook – and a recipe from the meal you deliver.

In the last 5 years the item has made our school nearly $40,000! It’s a small effort that goes a LONG way. Keeping our cooks fresh helps, so if you are new and want to learn more, reach out to Kate Crisham at mcgreevy@gmail.com or 202-907-4875 or Vy White at vywind@gmail.com or 720-244-6633.
